GIRLS who have always dreamed of one day becoming a princess are being given the chance to be crowned a member of Chipping Sodbury’s Royal family this spring.

Oranisers of the Sodbury Festival, to be held in June this year, have announced details of their annual search for a princess competition. The winning princess, and two attendants, will help promote the festival and attend various events throughout the 10 days of festivities, between June 7 to 16.

The role includes joining the parade for the carnival that is a highlight of the programme and which takes over the centre of Chipping Sodbury on the closing weekend of the festival.

Acts confirmed in the line up this year include Tim Brook-Taylor (The Goodies) and TV presenter Chris Serle and From Captivity To Castle - an evening with Tom Hart Dyke, plant hunter and author. The popular Flowers Band will return to perform Last Night of the Proms Chipping Sodbury style and Music in the Street will see popular band Vegas sing songs from the 1960s up until recent years.

All would-be princesses and attendants must complete an entry form, available at www.chippingsodburyfestival.co.uk Judging takes place at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall on Saturday, March 16.
