VISTORS flocked to WWT Slimbridge at the weekend for its annual festival celebrating bird life.

The popular Festival of Birds featured talks by celebrities from the wildlife world, including BBC presenter Mike Dilger and environmentalist Mark Avery.

As well as conservation talks, visitors were treated to wildlife workshops, a bustling market and the chance to spot wildlife from the centre’s observatory or many hides.

A Slimbridge spokesman said: "The Festival of Birds was a flying success for us with high visitation over the weekend and a very popular programme of events.

"The day time talks and outdoor events were really well attended and we received lots of feedback from visitors that they loved meeting our wildlife celebrities Mike Dilger, Johnny Kingdom and Iolo Williams.

"We were delighted that the weather improved just ahead of it allowing our visitors a mostly rain-free weekend to enjoy the outdoors."
