LEADING food critic Matthew Fort stopped by Berkeley to judge a cookery competition at the weekend.
The Cotswold Vale District Scouts held their round of a county-wide cookery competition at the Berkeley Scout hut on Saturday, January 26.
Each Scout group prepared three course meals based on the theme of Europe, with ingredients costing no more than £17 for the whole menu.
The dishes were tasted and judged by a culinary expert.
Food and drink editor of the Guardian for over 10 years, Mr Fort is currently appearing as a judge on the hit BBC series Great British Menu.
He said that there were delights in every menu and provided advice to the teams for the next rounds of the competition.
Two winning teams were chosen to progress to the county competition in February; the Wotton Pioneers, who served up an accomplished Italian menu, and 1st Dursley with an original Danish menu.
The Scouts are always looking for help with events like this, either as a Scout or an adult helper. If you’re interested contact admin@gloucestershire-scouts.org.uk
