A 38-year-old man has appeared in court charged with causing the deaths of a married couple who were knocked off their tandem in Hanham.
Nicholas Lovell, of West Street, Oldland Common, was arrested on Sunday following the deaths of Ross and Clare Simons on Lower Hanham Road on Sunday afternoon.
He spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth at North Avon Magistrates Court in Yate. He was remanded in custody.
He will next appear at Bristol Crown Court on February 21.
Lovell was charged with two counts of deaths by dangerous driving as well as driving while disqualified, driving with no insurance and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
