A ROAD in Old Sodbury had to be closed this morning after a tree fell into the middle of the carriageway.
It happened on the A432 Badminton Road just after 6am following a night of strong winds and heavy rain.
Avon and Somerset police were called to the scene after a driver crashed into the fallen tree and alerted the authorities. The motorist was not injured in the accident.
A police spokesman said: “The driver came round the corner an dbanged into the tree that was blocking the road.
“There were no injuries or damage.”
The road was closed to allow the tree to be removed. Police said they expected it to remain shut for several hours.
