BUSINESSES across Gloucestershire are being urged to sign up to a new website and help young people find work.
Gloucestershire County Council’s website www.yes2jobs.co.uk went live on Monday, February 11, for organisations to register their opportunities for the right young people to help them gain employment or skills.
So far over 100 businesses, including the county council, have signed up and confirmed their commitment to help keep promising talent in Gloucestershire.
As well as potentially reduce costs by bringing in school leavers, the scheme is hoped to save money as students will provide fresh perspectives, as well as providing an additional cost effective resource.
Organisations have three weeks before the website is introduced to schools and colleges to start making contacts.
Leader of Gloucestershire County Council Cllr Mark Hawthorne said: "So far we’ve seen a huge amount of interest from businesses who are interested in supporting this scheme.
"They, like the county council, are keen to keep our talent here in Gloucestershire and to do that we need to create the right opportunities for them to stay.
"Once we start linking opportunities with young people at the end of the month, I am confident this scheme will make a big difference."
