Pupils at Crossways Infant School in Thornbury celebrate the Chinese New Year
ZODIAC-mania swept Crossways Infant School in Thornbury as pupils prepared to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
Children took in China’s exotic customs and culture as they practised using chopsticks, learnt about the Zodiac and celebrated the Year of the Snake clad in multi-coloured Asian-inspired outfits.
They were also invited to solve tricky Chinese puzzles before tucking into a traditional feast of sweet and sour chicken, stir fry, vegetable egg noodles and boiled rice with sweet corn and peas.
The festivities were part of the school’s year-long project, Exploring Communities, designed to widen pupils' horizons.
Head teacher Lisa Jones said: "The children really benefit from taking part in such vibrant learning experiences and great fun was had by all."
