The Ship Inn in Alveston launches Easter Egg Appeal
1:30pm Sunday 17th February 2013 in News By Marion Sauvebois
AN ALVESTON pub is calling on the whole community to donate hundreds of chocolate treats to its annual Easter Egg Appeal for children living in care.
The Ship Inn has run the Easter Egg Appeal for the past nine years, bringing smiles to the faces of thousands of toddlers and teenagers during that time.
Last year it collected more than 200 chocolate eggs as part of the campaign.
Landlady Donna Telford urged villagers and patrons to get behind the initiative and help make it the biggest collection to date.
"The highlight in our fundraising calendar for me is our toy and Easter egg appeals, which help children across Bristol," the 47-year-old said.
"I feel like I am attached to these children having run similar appeals in the past and I would feel devastated if I let the children down.
"Hopefully though people will be generous this year and donate more eggs than ever before."
The eggs will be donated to Bristol children’s services to be distributed to underprivileged youngsters this Easter.
Eggs can be handed to the pub until March 25.
