Concorde to be subject of a free lecture at University of West England (UWE)
3:10pm Friday 22nd February 2013 in News By Marion Sauvebois
THE HISTORY of Concorde will be discussed at a free lecture at the University of the West of England next month.
Concorde flight test engineer and wing design and propulsion installation specialist Duncan Greenman will go back on the supersonic jetliner’s glory years and contemplate its future in the city on Monday, March 11 (7pm).
The iconic plane is one of the most recognisable worldwide and its history is inextricably linked with Bristol. This lecture will recount the development of Concorde and its first flight from Filton Airfield in 1979 and final landing in the town in November 2003.
Mr Greenman has spent 40 years working for Filton aerospace companies. The expert on transport and aviation history was recently appointed as a director for the new Bristol Aerospace Centre, which will house the legendary jet.
He is also in charge of a large archive relating to the Bristol aerospace industry, the Bristol Airchive.
