A LEYHILL prisoner has been arrested by police nearly one month after he absconded.

Stephen Rees, 31, was apprehended by Gwent officers in Wales.

He went missing from HMP Leyhill on January 30, along with fellow inmate Liam Ahearne.

Ahearne, 24, is still at large.

He is believed to have links with the South West of England and with the Merthyr, Rhymney Valley, Blackwood, Markham and Bargoed areas.

Anyone with information regarding Liam Ahearne’s whereabouts should call 999.

Officers are particularly concerned about him as he needs medication, without which he could have a seizure.
