A LORRY has narrowly avoided crashing into a car by swerving into a nearby wall on the outskirts of Dursley.
The incident happened opposite the Cotswold Edge Golf Club when a black A4 Audi attempted to turn into the club at around 1pm on Friday, March 1.
The kitchen-delivery lorry did not notice the car’s intention to turn off of the B4058 and broke too late and swerved to avoid it, just clipping the end of the car.
The lorry ploughed into the Cotswold stone wall and suffered damage to the bumper, broken lights and indicator but the driver, who wished to remain anonymous, did not think there was any mechanical damage.
Neither driver was hurt in the incident.
"When I noticed the car was turning I tried to brake but this road has no grip," he said.
"If I hadn't moved out of the way we would have both been hurt."
The Audi received a dent to the left-hand side and broken rear lights and indicator.
James Craig, 34, from Worcestershire, had only just bought the car a few weeks before but was thankful that nobody was seriously hurt.
"It’s nothing really, compared to what would have happened if it had gone fully into the back of me," said the financial advisor.
"It’s a new car but it is no big deal, no harm done."
Police cordoned off the lorry while the recovery could be completed.
