Seven homes burgled in Thornbury over the weekend
4:12pm Tuesday 5th March 2013 in News By Marion Sauvebois
THIEVES broke into seven homes and a garage in Thornbury over the weekend, causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage.
The burglars forced their way into two houses in Swallow Park overnight on Saturday, March 2, and two in Millfield sometime between Friday, March 1 and Sunday, March 3, smashing windows and damaging doors in the process.
They also burgled a house on Sibland Road between 6pm and 7pm on Saturday, a home in Deane Avenue between 1pm and 10pm the same day and another in Cumbria Close sometime between Friday and Sunday.
They broke into a garage on Howard Road on Saturday night. Jewellery was stolen from two of the properties. Despite evidence that they searched the other homes, it is not yet clear whether anything else was taken.
Officers in Thornbury are calling on householders to step up their home security following the burglaries, including setting a timer switch to turn lights and a radio on and off.
Locals are also advised to lock up doors and windows and set the alarm at night and when they are out.
Anyone with information about the break-ins should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org For more safety advice visit www.avonandsomerset.police.uk
