South Gloucestershire Council holds free singing workshop for carers in Yate

CARERS are invited to sing all their troubles away at a free workshop being held in Yate next week.

The South Gloucestershire Council event is open to carers in the district and takes place on Wednesday, March 20 (11am-1pm) at The Armadillo youth café.

The workshop, which takes place during national Carers Week, is free to anyone who provides care or support to a relative, friend or neighbour on a regular basis. It will offer people a chance to get together and learn some simple songs led by music teacher and natural voice practitioner Indigo Craig.

Sue Jaques, community engagement officer with South Gloucestershire Council, said: “You don’t need to read music, no experience of singing is required and there is no audition - the aim of the workshop is just to have some fun and enjoy singing.

“There is evidence that singing is beneficial for both physical and mental health, and hopefully these workshops will provide a positive and enjoyable experience for all.”

Carers wishing to take part can book a place by calling 01454 868267 or turn up on the day.
