THE GRUFFALO, Goldilocks and a raft of fairytale princesses had a ball on World Book Day in Thornbury.
Rainbow Teddies Pre-School pupils dressed as their favourite fictional characters for the occasion and shared their love of reading with their classmates.
Each child was asked to bring his most treasured story to school along with a donation for Book Aid International.
The school raised £55 for the charity, which sends thousands of books each year to destitute children in the poorest parts of Africa.
Pre-school manager Nanda Lee told the Gazette: "This event helped the children to learn about other communities in the wider world, whilst also promoting communication, language and literacy development. We had pirates, princesses, Gruffalos, knights, several superheroes, Goldilocks and a raven amongst others."
