Acorns’ Gloucestershire Support Group raising a cheer after hitting fundraising target
ONE Gloucestershire support group are jubilant after their hard work paid off and a large amount of money has been raised to help children with life-limiting conditions.
The county’s Acorns Children’s Hospice Support Group are celebrating after hitting their year’s £20,000 fundraising target.
The hospice itself currently provides care and support for 50 Gloucestershire children and their families, as well as twelve bereaved families.
Chairman Mike Pezet said the group’s fundraising result was achieved by involvement in more than 90 events throughout the year.
"People have attended in good numbers, but the spending power has not been prevalent. Reaching our target was possible through friendship and teamwork in the face of adversity," he said.
"We would welcome new people to join our group to have a great time helping to support care of local life-limited children, by manning stalls or assisting with collections."
Members agreed to increase their fundraising target for 2013 to £25,000 to celebrate Acorns’ 25th anniversary.
