Broadway Infant School in Yate won best under seven's choir at Thornbury Eisteddfod
YOUNG choir singers from Yate have wowed Eisteddfod judges with a selection of their favourite songs.
The 43 members of Broadway Infant School’s Key Stage 1 choir have taken first prize in the under seven choir category of Thornbury Eisteddfod.
The five to seven-year-olds sang several songs dinosaur-themed songs in a six-minute programme showcasing their vocal talents.
Teaching assistant and choir director Ingrid Pagett said: “The children were so excited to have won.
“They sang a seed song about spring and our favourite 200 million years song about dinosaurs.
“I was very proud of them, it brought a tear to my eye to see them win.”
Broadway last entered a winning choir in 2010 and last year came in second place.
The Eisteddfod is an inclusive festival designed to encourage young people of all abilities.
