LEGENDARY rocker and Status Quo hitmaker John Coghlan will perform at an intimate charity gig in Thornbury.

Fresh from a sell-out show at London’s Wembley Arena for the band's reunion tour, the musician will play for a much smaller crowd at the Barrel pub on Saturday, March 30.

Combining the group’s 1970s hits and lesser-known tracks, the free invitation-only performance promises to be a once-in-a lifetime experience for die-hard fans.

Donations will be collected throughout the night for charities CLIC Sargent and Westie Rehoming.

John Coghlan met Status Quo bandmates Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster in 1962. They went through a series of monikers before welcoming a new member to the group, Rick Parfitt, and officially becoming Status Quo in the late 60s.

A long string of hit records, including Pictures of Matchstick Men, Down Down, Caroline, Rain and Rockin' All Over the World, and successful worldwide tours and television appearances followed for the next 20 years.

The rock band received a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 1991.

For a chance to attend contact the Barrel Inn on 01454 413592.

Doors will open at 8.30pm for a 9.15pm start.
