A NEW healthcare provider is serving the community of South Gloucestershire with nursing care.

Bristol Community Health launched on April 1 after it was awarded a contract by NHS South Gloucestershire in December last year.

The social enterprise and community interest company, which evolved out of the NHS in 2011, already provides NHS-funded community healthcare services throughout Bristol and the surrounding areas and operates more than 30 community healthcare services.

Its range of services include dermatology, district nursing and dietetics, prison healthcare, physiotherapy and palliative care.

The takeover in South Gloucestershire follows months of close links with the region’s primary care trust to integrate the staff effectively into its organisation.

Ceridwen Massey, Bristol Community Health’s general manager, said: "Our focus is to ensure a smooth transition for the service so that patients and referrers continue to receive the high level of service and ensure patients can get the right care at home or in a nursing home that suits their needs."

The team will move to a new base in Patchway Clinic at the end of April. At this point the team will have new contact numbers and emails however the old numbers will continue to work, diverting calls when made.
