A CAR fire on the M5 between J11a and J12 required two fire engines to come to the scene yesterday.

At 4.10pm fire control received several calls to a car fire on the M5 motorway northbound between junctions 12 and 11a.

One fire appliance from Gloucester South Community fire station and one appliance from Cheltenham East attended the scene with a total crew of ten fire fighters.

The incident commander confirmed that one car on the motorway has been severely damaged by fire and one hose reel and two breathing aparatus had been used to extinguish the blaze.

The crews spent a total of fifty minutes at the scene.
