A BESPOKE bag-for-life has been launched to boost Thornbury's profile in South Gloucestershire and beyond by the Chamber of Commerce.

The canvas bag, which features a drawing by Surroundings owner Richard Edwards, is part of the Think Thornbury F1rst campaign to promote the town and its quirky independent shops and High Street.

Rowena Moncrieffe, chairman of Thornbury Chamber of Commerce, said: "The aim is that the bags will be bought and used by local people to promote the town. We started selling the bags recently and they are proving to be very popular."

The bags are being sold for £1.50 and are available from local shops as well as the Town Hall.

This follows on from the postcards produced last spring and listing upcoming events in Thornbury to attract tourism.

To raise the town's profile not only in the region but much further afield, the Chamber of Commerce is inviting Thornburians to take part in a very unusual competition.

"We would like to see how far the bags can travel and we would like you to send us a photo of where you and the bags have been, we may give a prize for the furthest afield or the most unusual place a bag has been photographed," added Mrs Moncriefffe.
