Work underway to complete Alveston to Old Down footpath
WORK has begun on the third and final phase of the Alveston to Old Down footpath.
Down Road is now closed and will blocked off every week day until the end of construction on Saturday, August 31.
The much-awaited expansion of the pedestrain way was welcomed by Severn district Cllr Matthew Riddle who campaigned on behalf of residents to see the path completed.
"I am really pleased that we are now so close to completing building work on the third and final phase of the much-needed Alveston to Old Down footway," he said.
"Down Road is quite a busy road for a rural area and so, for a number of years now, there’s been a great deal of local support for this scheme and so I am pleased to have been able to play my part in ensuring that building work has made steady progress.
"As a community, we are looking forward to seeing work completed and Down Road being reopened without delay."
