Avon Fire and Rescue Service free man from car which veered into Yate underpass
THE driver of a car had a lucky escape when his vehicle veered off the road and ended up in an underpass in Yate.
The 49-year-old male driver was rescued from the green car by fire fighters at 8pm on Friday (August 9).
Avon Fire and Rescue Service acting press officer Richard Davies said: “The 49-year-old left the main road and ended up in the subway and we did have to rescue that person from the vehicle.
“Two crews attended, one from Yate and a specialist rescue pump from Avonmouth.”
The driver was rescued and is not thought to have been seriously injured in the accident.
It happened at the junction of Shire Way and Rodford Way and prompted numerous calls to the fire service and several posts on social networking sites Facebook and Twitter.
