Gloucestershire's new fire service control room unveiled today
THE COUNTY’S fire service is due to launch its new control room and mobilising system today in a bid to drive down emergency response times.
Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service’s chief fire officer Jon Hall is to launch the £1.8million system, called Vision 4, at midday at the service’s headquarters in Quedgeley.
The system is designed to reduce the time it takes operators to handle calls and for fire stations to respond to emergencies.
GFRS is only the second fire and rescue service in the country to install the new system, though several others are expected to follow suit in the coming months.
Cabinet member for fire, planning and infrastructure, Cllr Will Windsor-Clive, is also due to attend and be shown how the new system operates.
