Marathon man Clive Daniels limbers up for Bristol Half in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support
YATE’S well-known marathon man Clive Daniels is picking up the pace for the Bristol Half Marathon later this month.
Mr Daniels, who at the age of 67 has completed the London Marathon eight times, is running the 13-mile event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
He has already raised just under £160,000 for the charity and is hoping the Bristol Half Marathon, on Sunday, September 15, will see the total rise to £182,000.
“I usually raise around £14,000 from each event and the support has been very good again this year,” said Mr Daniels, of The Glen.
“Training has gone very well. I do a 12-mile run every weekend and a shorter one in the week. It just ticks over really and is second nature to me now.”
A frequent runner even when not in training, Mr Daniels said he was finding his times were slowing down as he clocked up the years.
“As we get older we get a bit slower and I don’t seem to run quite so often now,” he said. “It certainly doesn’t get any easier but I have been doing this a long time and I feel fine.”
The Bristol Half Marathon is this year celebrating its silver anniversary and starts and finishes outside At Bristol on Anchor Road.
