Wildings in Thornbury teams up with leading energy firm to power its future
A THORNBURY retailer has teamed up with a leading energy firm to power its future.
Independent department store Wildings is working with energy management consultancy Orchard Energy in a bid to reduce energy costs.
The team hopes to reinvest the savings in a new state of the art online store. Wildings was founded in Newport by Alfred Wilding in 1874. As well as its Newport and Thornbury shops it also operates under the Rossiters brand in Bath and Cardiff.
Gary Bell, financial controller at Wildings, said energy was one of the business’s biggest overheads.
"Although our Cardiff store is brand new our other sites are older, more traditional buildings that weren’t designed with efficiency in mind, making it a constant challenge to reduce energy use," he explained.
"The introduction of LED lighting at our Bath store following a grant from the Carbon Trust has yielded excellent results and we are keen to do everything we can to lower our costs and our carbon footprint."
Mr Bell said he hoped the energy saving would mean more cash was available for store and online improvements.
