Renewal and reserve systems are currently down in all libraries across the county due to a severe IT fault.
Library staff are reassuring customers all is being done to fix the major fault urgently.
Engineers have been on site all day and specialist parts that are required to fix the problem are on their way.
Customers can still borrow and return items to libraries and access free public computers.
They can also access the Overdrive download library and the Virtual Reference library.
However, the IT fault means customers are not able to renew or reserve items.
Customers will not be liable for any fines incurred due to the system fault and are asked to speak to their local library staff.
Operations manager at Gloucestershire libraries Katie Smith said: “The problem is with one of our servers and the specialist parts required are on urgent order.
Everything is being done to fix the problem as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience to our customers and we’re grateful for their patience. ”
