A CAR has plunged 80 metres off Frocester Hill after coming off the road last week, leaving the driver trapped.
The silver Suzuki came off the hill in Frocester on Thursday, September 12 just before 7.30am.
Firefighters were sent to the scene after being contacted by Gloucestershire Police who closed the road following the collision.
The 26-year-old driver from Manchester was left trapped in the vehicle following the fall and was eventually freed by two firefighter crews from Stroud Fire Station as well as another crew and a rescue appliance from Gloucester North Station.
The roof of the car is believed to have been cut off to aid the rescue.
A specialist rope rescue team from Lydney was also called to the accident site but as the incident developed it was clear that they were not needed.
South Western Ambulance Service sent its Hazardous Area Response Team as well as four ambulance vehicles and helicopter ambulance to the scene.
The driver was eventually taken to Frenchay Hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening. The operation took just under two hours to complete.
