South Gloucestershire Council launches housing strategy
SOUTH Gloucestershire has launched a new housing strategy.
The document aims to tackle housing provision from 2013 to 2018 and focuses on four key themes: housing and the economy, our health, our communities and our place.
It has been put together following consultation with local community and voluntary groups, residents, housing associations, developers, planning agents and private landlords.
During the official launch at Kingswood Civic Centre, Cllr Pat Apps (Lab, Kings Chase) adults and housing committee lead member, said: "In South Gloucestershire, we recognise that housing is far more than just a roof over our heads - it is a fundamental part of everyone’s life and has an impact on our health and wellbeing, sense of belonging, economic prosperity and our children’s educational attainment.
"This is not just the council’s strategy, it is a strategy for the people of South Gloucestershire."
She added: "We want everyone to be able to live in a good quality home that meets their needs and which is affordable.
"We will work with partners to bring empty properties back into use and build strong communities which our residents can be proud to live in."
