Dursley Town Hall set for much-needed facelift
DURSLEY’s Town Hall is set to have a significant refurbishment soon, with parts of the building starting to crumble away.
The lintel over one of the property’s windows has disintegrated enough to warrant a sign underneath warning passers-by of rocks falling as a precaution.
Dursley Town Trust, which owns the building, is putting out to contract a series of works that need to be carried out on the building, including decorating the inside and outside of the hall as well as the market place underneath.
The cost of the works is estimated to be £20,000 and trust chairman Mike Doughty said it would be carried out in the next month or so.
"It’s the joy we have of owning a historic building," he said.
"The trust is to soon start its fundraising project or raising £150,000 to have a lift installed at the hall so more people can use the social centre."
