CHILDREN in Charfield are poised to see their brand new adventure playground completed after their parents secured nearly £13,000 for fun slides and climbing frames.

In November last year, Charfield Primary School unveiled the Climbing Chaos, the first phase of a £22,000 refurbishment project to replace its old and partially rotten activity area, spearheaded by its PTA.

Following the inauguration, The Friends of Charfield School immediately resumed their fundraising efforts and, thanks to some hugely popular charity events and a £6,000 grant from South Gloucestershire Council's Severn Vale Area Forum, were able to raise a further £12,912 toward the second and final phase.

Tim Skuse, chairman of the Friends of Charfield Primary School, said: "We are delighted. The cost of the second phase was £11,000. We have just finalised the design. We will be installing it during one of the coming school holidays."

The Friends will hold their annual general meeting at the school on Thursday, October 3 (7.30pm). The PTA is looking for new members to replace its current chairman, vice chairman and secretary.
