Council's offices ruined by flood

THE CHIEF executive of Gloucestershire County Council Peter Bungard and about six staff have had to move offices after they were flooded out last week.
Water poured into rooms in the chief executive's department at Shire Hall in Gloucester on Thursday night, (September 26) and staff arrived on Friday to find carpets and furniture ruined.
A water leak caused by a faulty pressure valve caused the flood, said a council spokeswoman.
"Mr Bungard, his personal assistant and several other council staff have had to be relocated while repairs are carried out," she said.
"It's been a little chaotic for them. They should be able to move back in after about a fortnight when the work is finished."
Workmen were called in immediately to remove flood damaged furniture and carpeting and repairs are continuing.
The spokeswoman was unable to give a cost of the mopping up and replacement operation but said it would all be covered by insurance.
