A PHARMACY in Thornbury has broken new ground by offering bespoke skin checks to customers in its recently made-over store.
The team at LloydsPharmacy officially unveiled its refurbished facilities complete with a state-of-the-art skin analysis machine this month.
The Thornbury branch of the national chain is among the first in the UK to provide the skincare support facilities. The pharmacy has also launched a pain management service.
The overhauled store was inaugurated by former Paralympic athlete Michael Spence, one its most faithful customers.
Samantha Light, pharmacy manager, said: “We are delighted to be one of the pioneers in a project that will do much to raise awareness of healthcare needs at a local level.
“What we want to do is help people discuss their health problems, offer support on how we can help them and how they can help themselves, all in relaxed surroundings where people can feel more comfortable talking about their concerns."
She added: “The new skin analyser is a great addition to the services we offer. It looks at several different features, including hydration and elasticity, using scientific probes. The results then help us to recommend the most suitable care routines and products.”
The LloydsPharmacy’s new pain control service has been found to improve 46 percent of people’s pain after just four weeks of taking the pharmacist’s advice.
“We know many who suffer from long-term health conditions don’t always want to go to their doctor every time they have a question,” she added.
“What we are doing is providing services that complement GPs and other healthcare professionals by offering convenient, one-to-one support in pleasant, modern surroundings.”
