A WOTTON quilting group celebrated their 10th anniversary by pulling in the pounds for charity at a free exhibition.

Under the Edge Quilters have been running since October 2003, during which time close friendships have been forged and countless quilts produced.

A Dazzling Decade was on display in Under the Edge Arts (UTEA) on the Chipping on Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13.

Richly detailed patchwork, wall hangings and bags were on display and a number of crafts were offered up for sale.

Each member had produced at least one A4 quilt, which were placed in envelopes and then offered anonymously for £5 each.

A special quilt raising money for mobile chemotherapy charity Hope for Tomorrow raised over £240.

Hope for Tomorrow brings vital chemotherapy treatment closer to patient's homes, reducing the strains of travelling, waiting times and hospitals.

Quilters spokesman Penny Kells said the exhibition had been busy all weekend.

She said: “It’s been a good ten years and we just felt we wanted to celebrate.

“Altogether we raised just over £500. It was very busy all weekend, especially on Sunday.

"We were all thrilled to bits and very pleased with the support from the town and far and wide.”

Under the Edge Quilters meet at UTEA on the first Thursday of every month. For more information visit www.utea.org.uk
