PROMISING young writers and amateur journalists from Tockington were starstruck as they bumped into Hollywood royalty turned author Emma Thompson on a school trip like no other.
Members of Tockington Manor School’s creative writing circle and newspaper crossed paths with the actress, screenwriter and novelist at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, as well as Martin Jarvis.
A school spokesman said: “We met such spectacularly famous people such as Emma Thompson and Martin Jarvis. Both chatted at length with the children during a book signing and were very entertaining to listen to.
"Martin Jarvis read us two Just William stories, both of which were being recorded for a new CD. It was really interesting to watch him at work, as he changed from one voice to another with great aplomb.
“We also saw Paul Stewart, Chris Riddell and Jonathan Stroud who write fantasy fiction for children. We had a great day out.”
