AIRBUS is set to sell another 25 planes to Kuwait Airways after the country's national airline signed a memorandum of understanding with the manufacturer.
The airline, which already operates 15 of the company's aircraft, wants ten A350-900s and 15 A320neo planes as part of renewal plans.
Kuwait Airways acting chairman, Mr Jassar Al Jassar, said: "The Airbus family is the ideal choice for an airline like ours. The A350-900 will strengthen our long haul route development whilst the A320neo will further boost our regional route network. These aircraft are an essential part of our ambitious growth plans.”
John Leahy, Airbus chief operating officer for customers, said: “It’s great to see our long-standing customer Kuwait Airways building its future with our newest, most efficient aircraft families."
The A320neo has new more efficient engines and large "Sharklet" wing tip devices, which together give up to 15 per cent fuel savings. At the end of last month, firm orders for the aircraft stood at 2,523 from 45 customers, making it the fastest selling commercial airliner ever.
