TWO teenagers and an 11-year-old have been arrested on suspicion of arson after a derelict house was believed to have been set alight in Cam.

Two 14-year-old boys from Gloucester and an 11-year-old boy from Cirencester were arrested shortly after Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service attended to a report of a fire at a semi-detached property on Drake Lane, next to the Peak Academy.

Crews from Wotton-under-Edge Fire Station and Dursley Fire Station were sent to the incident after the call came in at 9.46am on Thursday, December 12.

A fire engine from each station was sent with a total of 12 firefighters and on arrival found smoke to be issuing from the empty house.

The crews used one main jet, two hose reels and four sets of breathing apparatus and were on scene for almost two hours combating the fire, which caused a small amount of damage to the kitchen area.

The team also used a thermal image camera to ensure no further hot spots remained.

No-one was hurt in the incident.

The narrow country lane was coned off as the fire service dealt with the incident, with cars forced to take alternative routes during the two-hour-long operation.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said the incident was being treated as suspected arson and the two teenagers had been arrested shortly before 1pm, with the 11-year-old arrested soon after, on suspicion of arson.

At time of writing all three remained in police custody.
