A WOMAN was left with life threatening injuries after a serious road accident between Pilning and Northwick.

Police were called to the A403 Severn Road at about 3.15pm on Thursday, December 12, after a car initially collided with a white lorry tractor unit.

Other vehicles became involved and the injured woman, who was described as being in her 40s, was taken to Frenchay Hospital.

Police closed the road to allow a detailed examination of the scene to be carried out by the collision investigation unit.

Members of the unit have now appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

They want to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time and are especially keen to trace the driver of the tractor unit, who left the scene before police arrived.

It is believed the driver stopped in a lay-by further along the road before then continuing on their journey.

Anyone who can help should phone the non emergency number 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
