A WOMAN has shed her long locks to go the extra mile for her work’s chosen charity.

Chrissie Anderson, 28, has said a fond farewell to her long tresses in a drastic haircut in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Chrissie, who grew up in Yate and first started working for The Body Shop in the town’s shopping centre, is now managed of the beauty company’s Carmarthen store.

Her mum Margaret Anderson, who still lives in Yate, said: “She started off at the Body Shop in Yate two Chrismtases ago but she has done really well and is now manager.

“She hasn’t had her hair cut all year and had long brown hair that went all the way down her back. But now she has gone for a pixie look.

“She has had her hair cut short before but that was some time ago.”

As well as raising money through sponsorship, Chrissie has donated her cut hair to Locks for Love, which makes wigs and hairpieces for people who lose their hair due to illness. She has so far raised £300 for the Teenage Cancer Trust, The Body Shop’s chosen charity this year.

Mrs Anderson said: “She felt she wanted to do more than raise money through the shop. She wanted to do this little something.

“It is such a nice thing to do. I don’t think there is any family which can say they haven’t been affected by cancer in some way.”
