CHILDREN from Alveston's primary school became stars for the day when they appeared on ITV's popular This Morning show.

The group from St Helen's Primary School travelled to London for the final episode of the programme's nativity performance.

Throughout the week, the story was told by pupils from different schools, with the St Helen's pupils telling how Mary and Joseph left Bethlehem with the baby Jesus. They then sang the carol Hark the Herald Angels Sing.

The 15 children, some as young as five, appeared as angels, wise men, shepherds and readers, with Jackson Phillips appearing as Joseph and Harriet Gunnery playing Mary.

They had to leave home at 4.30am in order to get to the studio and meet presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

But they all enjoyed their moment in the spotlight, which they shared with year two teacher Stephanie Drake and reception class teacher Wendy Boffin.

Miss Drake said: "They were all absolutely fantastic."
