SOUTH Gloucestershire disability charity Brandon Trust is appealing for runners to take part in the 2014 Frenchay 10k road race.

The trust, which helps people with learning disabilities and autism through various services in South Gloucestershire and Bristol, has been chosen as a beneficiary at this year’s event.

The race is being held for the 34th time on Sunday, April 13 (11am) on a scenic course starting and finishing at the UWE Glenside Campus, Stapleton.

Frenchay 10K secretary Bob Hadden said: “One of the aims of the event is to raise money for charity. We like to support local charities involved in the care of people and Brandon Trust fits that remit really well.”

Brandon Trust celebrates its 20th anniversary in the same month and the charity is hoping to boost the total amount raised from the event by urging more entrants to sign up and run for sponsorship.

Chief executive Lucy Hurst-Brown said: “We are really excited to be a part of this event, especially with it being in the first month that Brandon Trust will be celebrating our 20th anniversary.

“We wish to say a big thank you to the Frenchay 10k committee for choosing us as a beneficiary and would love runners to support us.”

Brandon Trust would also like to recruit extra volunteer marshals to help on the day.
