A NEW weight loss centre has opened in Yate to help make it easier for people to shed the pounds.
The Weight Watchers drop-in clinic has opened next to the Pop Inn cafe in Yate Shopping Centre and will open at certain times to give dieters more freedom to get support and advice when they want. It means people watching their weight in the area no longer need to attend the same regular meeting and instead can drop in at a range of times and days that suit their busy lives.
The centre is one of only two in Bristol and is part of a new initiative run by the company.
Centre champion and Weight Watcher leader for Yate, Lisa Collier, said: “It is open four times a week but we are increasing that to nine sessions.
“It will give people more chances and opportunity to do something about their weight. It is not about going to a regular meeting, it is just about going along.”
The Yate Weight Watchers group currently has around 150 people on its books.
Lisa said there had been some real success stories within the group.
“We have one man who has lost six stone and a couple who have lost 10 stone between them,” she said. “It really works and this centre is about making more people aware we are here and gives us a chance to do something different.”
The centre was officially opened by Yate mayor Cllr Wully Perks on Saturday.
