THE KINGSWOOD Village Association`s (KVA) New Year`s Eve Lunch for senior citizens has been regarded as a resounding success by members.
Thanks to an army of helpers and a donation of £750 from Waitrose supermarket in Chipping Sodbury, the 75 guests were treated to an evening of fine wine, good food and entertainment.
Guests were greeted with bubbly or Fino Sherry, whilst enjoying Christmas songs by children from Kingswood Playgroup.
A full Christmas lunch, cooked by the inmates of Leyhill prison and served by KVA members and supporters, followed.
In addition, the members were treated to coffee and chocolates while they were entertained to songs of the 60s and 70s by local band, Echo.
The guests, members and supporters contributed handsomely to a raffle in aid of Playgroup, raising £281, which KVA matched with a further £281.
It brings the total amount raised by the group in the year to £4,000 which has gone out to a dozen Kingswood organisations
KVA raises funds for its donations from three annual events; the Kingswood village show, wine festival and a special Come Dine With Me event, to be held on Saturday, March 22.
