DURSLEY Swimming Pool has been hailed for its efforts in making the centre accessible to all.

As part of the pool’s ‘access all areas’ work, students from the National Star College visited the centre to review its accessibility for both customers and staff.

The glowing report ensured the pool was awarded with the WorkAble Recognising Disability Confidence in the Workplace Award.

Angela Gillingham is the manager of the Stroud District Council-run pool and she said the award shows the centre is inclusive and accessible to all customers.

She said that, over the past year they had asked customers and groups with disabilities to give their feedback on the centre in terms of suitability for disabled people.

“The National Star College went one better and completed a full audit on the centre looking at our facilities, staff training, policies and our swimming programme,” she said.

“It was great to meet the students from National Star College who are currently studying for their BTEC Sports qualification.

“We are delighted to receive this award which will be displayed with pride in the main reception area at Dursley Swimming Pool.”
