A 47-year-old care worker from Dursley has admitted raping three vulnerable women in a Gloucestershire care home.

At Gloucester Crown Court Colin Stokes, of St George’s Road, pleaded guilty to raping women aged 32, 49 and 52 at the home, which cannot be named by court order.

Judge Jamie Tabor QC remanded Stokes in custody for a pre-sentence report from the probation service. He said the report must assess what danger Stokes may pose in the future.

The offences were all committed between January 2012 and April 2013.

Stokes denied two other charges - one of a second rape on the 49-year-old woman and another of sexual assault on a different woman.

Relatives of all three of the rape victims were in court today to see Stokes, who is short and stocky with short dark hair and wearing a grey track suit, enter his pleas to the charges.

Prosecutor Sarah Regan said the pleas were acceptable to the Crown.

She suggested there should be a psychiatric report on Stokes but the judge refused, saying there was no evidence he was psychiatrically ill.

Ms Regan asked the judge to see video interviews with the three women so he could see their vulnerability for himself. He agreed he would watch them in private to spare relatives the distress of them being played in open court.

Stokes was remanded until March 20.
