Gazette Series:

SOUTH Gloucestershire Council is hearing a complaint about a Yate secondary school, the Gazette can reveal.

The authority is dealing with a parental complaint into Brimsham Green School.

Governors at the secondary school requested that the issue was dealt with by the council rather than carrying out its own internal investigation.

A spokesman for South Gloucestershire Council said: ““We are handling a parental complaint on behalf, and at the request, of the governors of Brimsham Green School in line with our policy.

“Governors refer complaints to the local authority for example when the complainant is well known to the school and they want to ensure independence.

“We will report the outcome to the governors in due course.”

The council said handling the complaint was not an unusual step.

It is understood the complaints relate to bullying and the school’s handling of a particular case.

Thornbury and Yate MP Steve Webb has been made aware of the investigation. He said it would not be appropriate to comment as the complaint is ongoing.
