A SMALL change to a bus route in Berkeley is set to make a big difference to a large number of people living in the town.

The number 207 bus, which takes people from Berkeley to Thornbury will now go an extra 1,000 metres into town from the main street to the end of Lynch Road, connecting it to Berkeley Vale Park.

The caravan site includes around 120 homes for people over the age of 55, who will now be able to visit Berkeley’s shops, library and doctors surgery more often, as the long walk was too much for some residents.

The new service, which operates five times day, will begin before the end of March.

Berkeley Cllr Gordon Craig, who has championed for the change, said the alteration was a “no-brainer.”

“It is a welcome change for Berkeley,” he said.

“It is great news because how often do you hear of a bus service being improved? It is a small amount of cost for a huge amount of benefit.”
