OVER 30 different community groups from across the Stroud district have come together in Dursley to get inspired to do more in the community.

Organised by local community organisation, World Jungle, the event at the Chantry Centre in Dursley saw participants enjoy a range of presentations, including from the Asha Centre, the Barnwood Trust, the former editor of the journal ‘Soil Association’, Stroud District Council as well as from World Jungle director, Ben Ward.

Workshops ran throughout the day on improving communication, volunteering and on ways to create more active communities.

Groups were encouraged to share their concerns and thoughts about issues affecting the district and to explore ways of working more closely together to solve some of the social problems affecting our communities.

As event organiser, Mr Ward said he was really pleased with how well the event went on Friday, January 31, and just how many local organisations got involved.

“People came along with really positive attitudes wanting to work more closely together,” he said.

“This is the only way in which we are going to get things done and make a real difference to the lives of local people.”

Feedback from the groups attending was positive, including Suzie Philips from the Learning Disabilities Partnership who said: “What a brilliant event. I found the day extremely useful and very inspiring.”
