A WINTERBOURNE teenager took to the stage with American superstar Pharrell Williams and legendary musician Nile Rodgers at the BRIT awards on Wednesday.

Winterbourne International Academy sixth form student Levanna Mclean appeared on stage during Pharrell's performance of hit song Happy at the end of the awards ceremony, which was broadcast live from the O2 Arena in London.

The 17-year-old from Winterbourne danced during his finale song Happy, written for the animated fil Despicable Me 2, with the moves that made her a worldwide dance sensation on YouTube.

Last November, Levanna uploaded a video of her dancing to the song on You Tube. The video catapulted her into the limelight and has now received almost 700,000 views. It is one of nine videos uploaded by Levanna dancing to Northern Soul music on the social media site.

Pharrell requested Northern Soul dancers for his BRIT award performance on Wednesday evening and had previously contacted Levanna on Twitter.

evanna said the whole experience was the ‘best night of my life’ and an ‘incredible honour’.

Her personal achievement is another proud moment for Winterbourne International Academy which has recently seen ex-students Jenny Jones win Olympic bronze and Nathan filer win the Costa Book of the Year award.
