A NEW housing complex for elderly people in Chipping Sodbury has been named.

The McCarthy and Stone development on Barnhill Quarry will be called Barnhill Court.

The 60 one and two-bedroom apartments currently being constructed on the site, next to a new Waitrose store, will be available for people aged 70 and over to buy from the autumn.

They will off assisted living for the elderly with additional security, housekeeping services and an on-site care home.

Each apartment at the development will be fully wheelchair accessible and comprise of either one or two double bedrooms, a lounge, a fitted kitchen and a bathroom incorporating both a bath and separate level access shower with non-slip flooring.

The development will include shared lounges, a restaurant, laundry room and landscaped gardens. There will also be flexible care and support packages including housekeeping assistance and an on-site team of care professionals regulated by the Care Quality Commission.

McCarthy and Stone has built a retirement complex on Westerleigh Road, Yate where one and two-bedroom properties are being sold from £184,000 to £301,000.
