TWO people have been charged with going equipped to steal in Cromhall after a call reporting suspicious activity in the village in the early hours of Monday, March 3.

A 28-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were arrested after a call reporting suspicious activity in the village.

A police spokeswoman said: “We were called at about 12.45am by a villager concerned after seeing two people leaving a car in a quiet lane.

“Officers attended and found a car containing plastic drums and siphoning equipment.

"A search of the area led to the arrest of a man and a woman on suspicion of going equipped to steal fuel.”

Neighbourhood Sergeant Rob Cainey said: “I’d like to thank the person who took the trouble to call us to report their suspicions. This is a safe place to live, but we should all be security-conscious and we’d always rather have a call with good intent than miss out on a chance to prevent or detect a crime.”

They have both been released on police bail to face the charges at North Avon Magistrates Court in April.
